As the pharma industry has been continuing to evolve post-independence, pharmacy
education in the country had to transform itself to help the Pharma field emerging
opportunities and nullify the challenges.
Pharmacy education has a major role to play in the progress of the pharma sector.
Yet, in India, it is entangled in several issues. One of the major issues is the
implementation of the right courses in academic programmes that meet industry
expectations so that a large number of vacancies in the organised sector can be
addressed which in long run results into wellness of mankind.
Understanding the criticality of the issue and for being a part of serving the mankind,
P G Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year 2017 by Gopsai
Avinandan Sangha, a registered society under West Bengal Societies Act XVII .
Courses are approved by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education),
and PCI (Pharmacy Council of India), New Delhi and affiliated to MAKAUT (Maulana
Abut Kalam Azad University of Technology), West Bengal for Bachelor of Pharmacy
(B.Pharm) and affiliated to WBSCT & VE & SD (West Bengal State Council of
Technical and Vocational Education & Skill Development) for Diploma in Pharmacy
(D.Pharm).
Furthermore, it is recognized by Higher Education, Science & Technology and
Biotechnology Department, Govt of West Bengal & University Grant Commission
(UGC) under Section 2(f) & 12(b) of UGC Act,1956.
