Research is one of the strongest features of PGIMS. faculty members and research scholars of PGIMS conduct research in diverse fields, and seek to expand human knowledge through innovation and insight. So many faculty members of PGIMS are actively engaged in research. The researchers at PGIMS also include full-time research scholars and post-graduate students.

The institute has Research Advisory Committee (RAC) headed by Principal to monitor and guide the research activities of the institute. The range of research activities at PGIMS is broad and deep. PGIMS is equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities to cater various facets of pharmaceutical research such as formulation and development of novel drug delivery systems, pre-clinical efficacy and safety evaluation of drugs, in-vitro efficacy studies using mammalian cell-lines, analysis of formulations by sophisticated instruments and isolation of bioactive compounds from natural .

UPGRADATION TRAINING PROGRAM FOR REGISTERED PHARMACISTS As per direction of PCI, in 2018 all registered pharmacists will have to take part in up gradation training program for renewal their registration. This up gradation Training program is being organized by West Bengal Pharmacy Council.
In the district of Paschim Medinipur , this up gradation training program is being conducted in collaboration with our Institute P.G.Institute of Medical Sciences. Our Faculty Mr. Partha Pratim Maity is organizing this training program in several places in the district of Paschim Medinipur.
